Castle Island is great to walk in warmer months. You can stop at Pleasure Bay to enjoy the beach along the way, get a bite at Sullivan's, and enjoy the playground (right by Sullivan's).

The Curley Community Center has an outdoor playground, outdoor area with picnic tables, and a family beach. Membership is free for Boston residents but you have to register online. Learn more here!

Southie has plenty of beaches to enjoy in addition to Pleasure Bay:

  • M St Beach (more family-friendly/less rowdy if you set up closer to the Yacht Clubs)

  • Carson Beach (has a cafe for food/drinks)

If you want to venture out of South Boston:

  • The Franklin Park Zoo is about a 15-20 minute drive and in addition to seeing the animals, they have a great outdoor playground and large grass area. Their annual membership is very reasonable starting at $125/year for unlimited access. Learn more here!
